Student Profile

Helen Ramsdale

Helen Ramsdale from Salford Physics

I studied Physics with French as a Foreign Language at Salford University, as I wanted to do Physics but I did French at A-Level as well as liking the language and culture. The French gave me a break at the end of the week. It really was totally different – the assessment was different and the classes were different.

The Physics Department is really good and gave me all the support I needed. I went to Salford University, in some ways, because I liked the Physics Department when I visited on an Open Day – but it also wasn't too much a city University (it's a little bit out from the Centre, and has a campus as well).

Some of my friends said "you must be clever to be doing Physics" but it's got easier and more socially acceptable for girls to study Physics.
