Physics employers & physics jobs - Physics Open Day at Salford
Physics open day - Wed 15 Feb 2012
Salford university pioneers new uk physics course
The University of Salford is the first higher education institution in the UK to
pilot a new kind of national physics degree that aims to make learning more relevant to physics jobs
and to real life - and our students more attractive to physics employers.
Salford was funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England,
and the Institute of Physics - to design the new curriculum and to launch new physics courses,
which are now studied by students who started at Salford in September 2010.
The new courses
see professionals from sectors of physics jobs, that include nuclear,
photonics, acoustics and medical employers, delivering regular seminars to the physics students,
using real-life problem-based learning – something never seen before in
UK physics degrees.
The aim of the pilot project is to attract a broader range of students to physics courses,
and to widen career and job opportunities for Salford physics graduates.
