Members of this large and prestigious Research Centre are drawn from applied, computational and theoretical areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Approaching 50 staff from the Materials & Physics Research Centre were submitted in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), as members of Salford University's (now-restructured) Institute for Materials Research.
Activities are organised through collaborating multi-disciplinary groups of Materials & Physics research:
- Materials & Physics Research Topics
- Staff Members
- Student Members
- Support Staff
- Research Facilities
- Enterprise & Impact
- Postgraduate Degrees
- Postgraduate Profiles
- Materials & Physics Outreach
- Location & Travel
In the 2008 RAE, 85% of our work at Salford University was judged to be 'internationally recognised' research (2* and above), of which 50% was judged to be 'world-leading' research (4*) or 'internationally excellent' research (3*). Research Fortnight ranked our members' materials research activity as 8th overall in the UK.
The formation of the Materials & Physics Research Centre constituted an Integration of Materials Research expertise at Salford University - bringing together around 100 researchers.
