WEWIN : Women in North West Engineering

Steering Committee

Membership

The steering group will be made up of people from a diverse number of backgrounds and experiences, including engineering companies, academia, human resources experts, and local government. The membership is designed to compliment and contribute to the aims of the research project.

The Role

The steering group committee plays a key role in providing advice, knowledge, and guidance that directs the focus and standards of the research project. Committee members will be able to contribute their views and suggestions with regard to the WEWIN project outputs on the recruitment, retention, and progression of women in the engineering industry in the North West.

The Requirements

Committee members will be invited to attend no more than four quarterly meetings at the University, over the duration of the research project, which is expected to conclude in December 2006.

The Benefits

Steering group members will receive material to read in advance of meetings, and will also receive invitations to attend events and workshops. All members will have the opportunity to contribute directly to a project that aims to examine, analyse, and evaluate working practices and occupational culture in engineering organisations in the North West, and which ultimately aims to produce policies and strategies to influence and improve the working practices of companies in the engineering sector.
